When Cats Fly! An Homage to Laurel Burch Mural Painting 2016!

I LOVE this time of year! I am seriously as excited as my students to begin the annual Spring mural painting!  I am lucky to have this very large space in the halls of my building covered with bulletin boards.  I staple up large banner paper, draw out a HUGE drawing and number it by color.  This year, our paint by number mural has 28 colors! I LOVE color, love mixing colors and seeing it come together before my eyes! This is my second year creating a time-lapse video documenting the masterpiece!  ENJOY!!!

Here are the finished photos...

The next three paintings are at the end of our academic wings...

  3. This is so AMAZING. The video of them working was a great way to document the process. What brand of paint do you prefer? What did you use to get the paper to stay on the wall? Have you ever painted directly on the wall if so, so you put anything over it to seal it? Thank you for your help.

  4. WOW!! This is beautiful!! All of that wonderful color...no wonder these murals are your "thang". I'm sure your students love them too. (So glad I had the chance to experience one of your murals first hand at Art Scouts.)

  5. I have so many questions. What kind of paper? How did you stick it to the wall? What do you do with them at the end of the year? I'm looking to do this with 8th graders. But am trying to figure out how.
    Thanks for any information. :)
